GREENi - Mobile Golf Application Competition 2010
Student of Universities and Polytechnics - Participate and Win 4000 €
GREENi launches an international mobile golf application contest targeted mainly at students of Universities and Polytechnics. Teams from other organizations or individual persons are also welcome. Purpose of the competition is to enable junior software developers to make real world applications for real users and maybe even to start up their own business. All working applications will be made available through the GREENi golfer service for a one year evaluation period so that teams will get real feedback on their applications.
Competition has two phases: “Beta development” and “Field testing”. During the first phase competitors develop working applications which will be evaluated by a team of judges. Grand prize for the first phase will be 2000 €, in addition to which, GREENi will award a number of smaller honorary prizes of 200 €. First phase starts on the 26th of April 2010 and winners are announced on the 1st of September 2010. During the second phase all the software will be available to registered golfers for downloading and testing via the GREENi service. Teams may develop and upgrade the applications further during the testing period (1.9.2010-30.8.2011). At the end of the year the most popular application will be awarded with an additional prize of 2000 € and will be on sale at the upcoming GREENi application store.
Task
Your task is to make a GREENi compatible mobile phone application for golfers. All the mobile phone application platforms can be used and any kind of phone with built in GPS. Application should communicate with GREENi system and provide new exciting services for golfers. Technical specifications and detailed instructions will be sent to participating teams after the registration.
About GREENi
GREENi (name changed from Viherio in the beginning of 2010) shows what is happening on golf course - real time and online. We capture information about the round, integrate it to current online services and outside information sources and deliver the whole package as informative and entertaining services to golf clubs and their customers.
